How it works

What Roof Rejuvenation Actually Does to a Shingle.

A plain explanation of the problem, the treatment, and where the limits are — so you can decide whether an assessment is worth your time.

The problem is oil loss, not dirt.

An asphalt shingle is a fiberglass mat saturated with asphalt and surfaced with mineral granules. The asphalt is what makes the shingle flexible and waterproof; the granules protect the asphalt from ultraviolet light.

Over years of heat cycling and UV exposure, the lighter oils in that asphalt volatilise. The shingle stiffens. Granules lose their grip and wash into the gutters, which exposes more asphalt, which accelerates the process. Eventually the shingle becomes brittle enough to crack or curl.

Pressure washing does not fix this — it removes granules and makes it worse. Coatings sit on top and can trap moisture. Rejuvenation takes a different approach: put oils back into the shingle itself.

Aged asphalt shingles with granule loss and staining
Before — dry surface, uneven tone, granule loss
The same roof after rejuvenation treatment
After — even tone restored across all slopes

Our Process

Five steps from your first call to the photo record we leave you with.

01

Free roof assessment

A technician walks the roof — not just the driveway — and documents shingle condition, flashing, penetrations, and any repair items. You get the photos either way, whether or not you hire us.

02

Straight recommendation

We tell you which of three things your roof needs: nothing yet, rejuvenation, or replacement. If it's replacement, we say so rather than selling you a treatment that won't help.

03

Repairs first, if needed

Loose flashing, a lifted ridge cap, or a cracked boot gets addressed before treatment. There is no point treating a roof with an open water path.

04

Professional application

The roof is cleared of loose debris and the treatment is sprayed evenly across every shingle slope, at the coverage rate the product specifies. Landscaping and hardscape are protected throughout.

05

Walkthrough and photo record

We photograph the finished roof from the same angles as the assessment and hand over the full record, plus a note on what to watch for at your next inspection.

Why rejuvenate

A Smarter Option for an Aging Roof.

Extend Roof Life

Help your existing shingles continue performing before replacement becomes necessary.

Restore Flexibility

Replenish oils that can be lost as asphalt shingles age.

Improve Appearance

Give an aging roof a refreshed, darker appearance.

Less Disruption

Avoid the tear-off, noise, debris, and construction associated with replacement.

More Affordable

A rejuvenation treatment can cost significantly less than replacing an otherwise serviceable roof.

Fast Application

Most projects can be completed quickly with minimal disruption to the homeowner.

What rejuvenation is not

  • It is not a repair. Leaks, flashing failures, and damaged decking need fixing first.
  • It is not a coating or a paint sitting on the surface.
  • It will not rebuild a shingle that has already cracked, cupped, or lost its mat.
  • It is not a substitute for replacement on a roof at the end of its life.

Where it fits best

  • Asphalt shingle roofs roughly 12–20 years old
  • Sound deck, sound flashing, no active leaks
  • Surface aging: fading, drying, early granule loss
  • Homeowners who want to defer a replacement decision
